East and Southern Africa region is faced with numerous disasters resulting from natural environmental occurrences, climate change, and conflict, which occur regularly. Our focus will include building resilience to protect the environment and reduce climate change, to respond to climate change in ways that do not further harm the environment; and to respond to disasters and humanitarian emergencies in the region.
REPSSI has established a programme in humanitarian emergency responses, responding to drought and Cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe and to enhance SRHR outcomes in protracted refugee settings in Uganda

Regionally REPSSI facilitated the establishment of the regional East and Southern Africa Community of Practice for MHPSS in emergencies and participates in the MHPSS.net board, and global IASC working group on MHPSS.
